Transition
Transition to Shavington Academy
We’re really pleased that you’re considering Shavington Academy for the next stage of your child’s education. Our aim is to make the transition into secondary school as smooth and supportive as possible. We focus on giving pupils the skills and confidence they need to manage this change, while also keeping a close eye on their academic progress and approach to learning. By doing this, we help pupils maintain strong motivation and develop positive learning habits.
Our transition programme includes:
- Transition Days in the summer term to help pupils familiarise themselves with the school building and meet key teaching staff.
- Year 8 Transition Mentors who offer guidance and support to new pupils as they settle in.
- A tailored Transition Curriculum delivered in the first few weeks.
- An Intake Evening for pupils and parents, offering the opportunity to meet Form Tutors and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Summer School in August to support a positive start to secondary school life.
- A Year 7 only first day in September, giving pupils dedicated time to navigate the school and feel confident before other year groups return.
